Background:

South Africa's EPCM Holdings was commissioned to conduct technical and commercial assessments of potential routes for transporting gas from the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) and Bir Allah offshore fields. These assessments aim to support industrialization and supply gas-to-power projects in Mauritania.

Services Provided:

Ciera provided guidance to EPCM on evaluating high-level environmental and social risks and issues associated with the construction of a gas pipeline from GTA to Ndiago and from Lemhaisrat to Nouadhibou in Mauritania.

Tasks included:

• Assessing national legislative and international lender requirements regarding environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA).

• Providing recommendations for high-level baseline studies for onshore and offshore environments required for ESIA preparation.
